A tip for the Encouragers

A Tip for Encouragers

****This is an area of encouragment for the encourager. . . Each month I’ll share a little lesson I’ve learned. Often stuff I’ve learned when I’ve felt alone in serving. Words I wish someone had told me when I was in the thick of it. I will also email these words to you mid month. . . Because it’s just that important.***

Seven Tips for Getting Prepared

One day on vacation in Arizona we decided to hike up a mountain. We hadn’t personally done a lot of research about the trail but my brother had been up it before. So us, each with four kids aged 17-2, we were going to tackle it. It was about 11 am when we arrived at the trailhead, the parking lot was brimming with cars. The sun was high, the water jugs half full, and the air was warm, a perfect day for a hike. We excitedly got going, thinking about hurrying because it was about lunchtime and we hadn’t bought many if any snacks. Can you picture where this is going??!

Not far. That’s where it went. We did not get far. We quickly realized it was too hot for Ohioans who were still accustomed to winter weather to be walking up a mountain in the stifling heat. We quickly realized that it was too far to go on an empty stomach. We quickly realized the water in our jugs would not last. We realized today was not the day.

A couple of days later we headed up the mountain again. But this time was different.

This time we left a disinterested teen with a couple of disinterested children. We packed snacks. We packed full water jugs. We arrived at the mountain in the morning, much earlier. . . (Etc)

EquipPING the encouragers

A Book for You

All it Takes is a Goal by Jon Acuff — One of my biggest takeaways from this book was to try on goals. Jon divided all goals into three areas, short term, middle, and big. You do short term for a week or two and decide if they give you the value you need in your life, if so they move up a level. If not, well no biggie. Goals and habits become a game of trial and error. Not an “Ugh I just failed and I can’t do anything right mindset.”
if you are done with the feeling of always failing at every goal you try. . . This is a book you need.

Your Monthly Graphics

****For the graphics, hard press on them and a list of options will come up. Click Save Image. You should be able to find them in your photo album and then you can reshare them in your community. I would recomded picking ONE or TWO of the days and ask that question every week. Example: Motivation Monday, ask them what goals they have for the week (often when we say our goal outloud we actually obtain it.) Don’t do a theme every single day — that is too much! Each month there will be a NEW holiday graphic included 🙂 ****

Your Community Posts

****This section of the month is LONG but it’s where I’ve done the work of getting posts ready for you. Five Posts a Month. Pick and Choose what you want to use. If you don’t like a post, don’t use it. If you do, great go for it! This is what you can expect each month.

  • Week One — Try It post (a tip is shared)
  • Week Two — Blog post | devotional | long instagram style type post
  • Week Three — Read It post (book recomendation)
  • Week Four — Blog post | devotional | long instagram style type post
  • Week Five — Buy It (product reccomendation)

To use the posts you can highlight the words, copy, and paste them in your community. (Beware the formating may change between my website and your device. So be sure to take a look at what it looks like before hitting publish)

The graphics are all done for you too!!  Again hard press, select option “Save Image” and go find the image in your photos.

Easy Peasy! The work is done for you. . . So you can concentrate on listening and interacting with your people. (Including and espically the little ones at your feet and the bigger ones sitting around your table wanting food 😉 )****

01

Try it

Batching days…

Something I learned this past summer was to batch days. What do I mean? I mean, like having one main focus for the day.  . . (And so on)

02

The problem is…

The problem is that when we become more focused the doing and the fixing rather than being focused on God, it leads to a racing heart instead of a happy heart.” Tricia Goyer

Have you ever been there? Life feels so overwhelming or out of control so you try to hide the crazy by finding purpose in helping or hyper-focusing . . . (Etc.)

03

Read it

a little something about this article/item. . . (And so forth)

04

Leaning into Faith

The other day I was driving with my oldest. Well, I wasn’t really driving. She was driving. On the highway. A week after she got her learner’s permit. I was “half-driving” in the passenger seat. (If you know, you know 😬 If you don’t know… just wait, your kids will get their permit, and you will then know. 😉 )

We were following my brother to church on Sunday. We had GPS on from their house to the church, just in case we lost them, but still, we were trying to stay close behind. On the four-lane highway, we lost them at one point. A large semi truck passed us and moved over between our van and my brother’s truck.

I could feel the stress in our van mount. The girl driving and her sisters couldn’t see their uncle anymore. . . (And so forth)

05

Buy It

Product Recommendation — Paprika App. . . (Etc.)

Monthly Check-In

****This is a self-check-in area. You can fill out the form and it will send you a copy of your answers to your email. This is for you. Answer the questions honestly and thoughtfully. You will be amazed at how just thinking through things each month will help you stay aware and intentional! You may be surprised by how what you thought it would look like and what it is looks DIFFERENT. But it will remind you each month of your intentions.****

Having a monthly check-in is important. Whether it’s for household and mommy life or in our serving life. Just take a moment to think of what is going well (praise), identify what is not working (problem), and think about a way to be intentional as you go into next month (practical goal).
