The word believe occurs 101 times in the gospel of John. The Greek word for belief is pisteuō and is defined: to think to be true, to be persuaded of, to credit, place confidence in, to entrust a thing to one.
Growing up in a Christian home, I can confidently say that I knew so many things about the Bible and Jesus, but knowing something and believing something are totally different. Based on the definition of believe, we need to move past knowledge and hang our very being, our confidence in this belief. I have found myself walking through days knowing something, but not letting the true riches and understanding of it penetrate my heart. Through this study, by God’s grace, I pray we can all walk away believing in a deeper way, something we all simply know.
