Homeschool Mom’s Night by Wayne County Christian Home Educators

Stewarding Your Calling Well — October 20th, 2022

Do you know you are a steward?

I was at a coffee shop a while back and watched the barista dealing with alot. She had a low water pressure issue. She was on the phone with the water company, managing the customer’s orders single-handedly, making decisions about when to close the shop, and more.

As I sat there and watched her, I realized she MUST be the owner.

She was sure treating everything with the passion of an owner. Making the best decisions possible. Caring for the customers with love. Treating the equipment like it was her own.

But as I continued to listen to everything going, on I realized she was the manager. She didn’t own a thing. She had no stock in the quaint coffee shop.

Everything she was caring for was someone else’s.

Then I realized, that is my life too.

I own nothing. I am simply called to mange the things in front of me. Just like the manager at the coffee shop, this looks like — keeping in close relationship with the Owner of everything, nurturing relationships with the people in my life, caring for the many tools, gifts, talents and supplies needed, and dealing with the unexpected struggles that come up.

Steward the calling.

How am I doing that? How are you doing with stewarding your calling?

Our Vision for Homeschool Mom’s Night

  • Our goal is to offer homeschool moms a time to get together for encouragement. A time that we pour into them, fill them up to the brim with Jesus, so they are ready to go back to their families and pour out.
  • Each event needs to consist of a Bible teaching, personal story/testimony time, practical ways to implement the lessons, perhaps through a workshop or story-time.
  • Each event also includes a vendor area where homeschool moms can share their passions/hobbies/side hustles that serve homeschoolers.
  • Another important goal of Mom’s Night is to give the women in our area the opportunity to use their gifts and talents to bless and serve others. Things like organization, food, decorations, hospitality, speaking, and teaching.
  • It is important to us that the speakers are women that are reachable, someone you can talk to long after they stop speaking on the “stage”.

How it all began

The dream began one day when I went to a homeschool convention years ago. I walked into the event very tired, drained, and not sure that I could homeschool another day. I was immediately met with speaking sessions that pointed me to Jesus. The whole day, speaker after speaker, I was uplifted and encouraged. I left the event ready to go back to my calling to homeschool.

During that day a desire began to form inside me. A desire to give this sort of day to the ladies in my area. And this is what became of this dream. I Praise God for letting me be a part of something so amazing!
