Why Motherhood Matters

|

Seriously I love book launches 🙂

This book launch was going to be on the topic of motherhood.

I’ve read ALOT of motherhood books.  I was sure this new book would be good, but I was not expecting it to be quite this good! Nor did I expect it to speak to me right when I needed it the most.

Wow.

This book is a special one.

I was sitting on my front porch hiding from my girls when I opened this package. Did you hear that? I was hiding from my girls. It was a very, very, rough day. Very. I was tired of the fighting. Tired of the daily struggles that come with having four emotional girls in the same four walls. The drama. I was asking myself was it worth it? What was the point? Why does this matter?

I asked my husband if this was worth it?  I pleaded with him why can’t I just be alone for one hour to myself.  Having them around 24×7 gets tiring.  The quiet time I have planned for the girls (an hour of playing with their toys/reading and listening to stories) was NOT going well that day.  I was up and down to get them snacks, bathroom breaks, and end fights.  I had had enough. I snuck out of the house.

The exact night before I had had such a horrible headache.  The worst head ache I’ve ever had in my life. I felt as though I wouldn’t make it through the night.

As I sat on my front porch hiding from my girls I texted my husband saying something like this… “It is going horrible today!  What is the point? Am I making any progress. Why motherhood?  Why didn’t I just die last night?” (Ya I said that. Please have mercy on me. At that very moment it seemed like the easy way out.)

The return text from my husband laid out my possible future… Things like, ten years all my girls will be teens or older. In 15 years, I may have an empty house. He wrote things like; if I live to be 85, he may live to be just 75.  Which means, I may have 25 year as a empty nest and another 10-15 as a widow. Plenty of time to be by myself. Plenty of time without fights, potty breaks, and snacks.  {Insert tears and a sniff}

At that very moment, I got this book in the mail.

I looked at the titles for each of the four sections…

{Why} You are not Alone

Why} We can’t live motherhood by the seat of our pants

{Why} You will lead them in the way they should go

{Why} Giving your children a reason to change makes all the difference.

WOW, Yep I certainly needed that right now!!

There were chapters like …

    • Overwhelmed doesn’t have to be your middle name
    • You don’t have to do it all
    • Comparing will kill your passion
    • The yelling mom can find hope and help
    • Ministry and mission should happen as a family
    • You need to throw mom guilt out the window
    • A tired mom can be an influential Mom
    • Can’t means won’t, so do the hard things

There are SO many truths in this book.  Truths that, yes, I probably knew already. Yet Truths that I needed spoken to me RIGHT THAT VERY MOMENT.

I love September’s heart; her love for moms in the trenches just oozes from the pages.  I love the many lists she includes. Good lists…lists that need hung all around my house to serve as a important reminders of {Why} Motherhood Matters.

This book launch and book shipment arrived at the exact right moment. It was certainly a God ordained thing for me… But friend, if you have any moments that you wonder “Why does Motherhood really matter?” or “Is this really worth it?” Then this book can be God ordained for you too!

September wanted me to be sure to pass along that if you order a copy of this book by August 31, you will receive a free companion journal + verse cards. Just go over to her website at whymotherhoodmatters.com to claim your free gifts!
