Flannel Sheets & Funeral Lines

January 9, 2020 Leave a Comment

Timing is everything.

You’ve heard that right? OR there’s a season for everything.

It’s an old saying that we maybe even roll our eyes at.

Picture it with me; We love flannel sheets. When we first “splurged” and got a set we LOVED it. It was winter, they were soft. They were amazing. Just what our bed needed.

I thought we’d never switch. Surely they would feel just as warm and cuddly during the summer. Oh boy, was I wrong. I got to summer and those same exact sheets were hot, sticky, when I really just wanted a cool bed to hop in to.

Timing is everything.

The other day. I drove by our church. It was the morning of a funeral. Only the funeral director was there. . . And the usher standing outside. The parking lot was empty.

How awkward would it be to arrive an hour early to go thru the none exist viewing line?

Timing is everything.

This timing thing is even in the Bible.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

a time to be born, and a time to die;

a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

What time is it for you now?

It’s 2020. Everything shouts a new year… but what time is it for you? Like really?

Are you guilty? Like me. Of trying to get something to happen before it is time?

Timing is everything. I’m so glad God holds the timing in His hands. So glad the Holy Spirit guides us in His timing. Maybe today, you have something to lay back into the hands of Jesus.

Trust Him. Because the right timing is everything.

When we lived loved... other things fade to the background. Messy houses, piles of papers to grade, dishes to do, spelling words to review, multiplication flash cards ... if we do it because we are loved instead of FOR love; the difference is transforming!
May we remember to live loved.
