Bible Study – Proverbs 3

June 19, 2015 6 Comments

*GMG Study- Proverbs 3*

Wow, this chapter is full of wonderful lessons!

The first verse that sticks out to me is verse 5: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.

We all know this verse.  We’ve heard it lots.

Do you believe it? Do you really trust The Lord?    OR    Do you find yourself trying to figure out everything, on your own?  I do!

Do you find yourself doing your day the way you planned it without consulting God? Me too.

This verse reminds us we need to STOP looking at own own understanding and ask The Lord to GIVE us HIS understanding.

Understanding about scheduling; what activities to add to our day and what to take away from a already too busy day.  Understanding about what curriculum to use for homeschool.  Understanding which Bible study to do.  It is even as simple as deciding what household project to do first.  Dishes or laundry?  What to make for supper.

Do you believe God cares about EVERY little path we go on? In every way we go?

Another verse that sticks out to me is verse 7: Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear The Lord and shun evil.

This verse stresses again about looking at everything through God’s understanding, the Lord’s eyes; rather than our own.  I might think I KNOW what is important for me to do in a day; that is being wise in MY own eyes.

It goes back to STOPPING and ASKING The Lord Every.single.day.
That He would show us what is important in HIS eyes.

I think we get stuck on auto-pilot quite often and forget that God is in the details. Every detail!

So easy to just plan my day without even thinking that He might have something different in my day lined up.

Look at Proverbs 16:9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. I think He wants us to plan. Yet in all we plan to remember that God establishes (sets) the steps. He writes the story, we just write the proposal.

When we lived loved... other things fade to the background. Messy houses, piles of papers to grade, dishes to do, spelling words to review, multiplication flash cards ... if we do it because we are loved instead of FOR love; the difference is transforming!
May we remember to live loved.
